SME Digitalisation Grant

This scheme was launched as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Malta.

Eligible applicants will be offered grants of up to €50,000 in investments for any approved digital interventions. The part-financing rate under this scheme is that of 50% for Malta and 60% for Gozo.

This enables businesses to become more competitive and innovative to be more resilient to market challenges. The scope of this grant is to support the eligible firms to execute costs related to e-commerce website development and the development of in-house digital solutions such as:

  • Cloud Computing
  • Training Costs
  • Hardware (such as Laptops, Docking Station, Port Replicator, Monitors, Tablets)
  • Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Custom Software
  • Routers, switches and WIFI-related equipment
  • Subscription-based software
  • Cyber Security systems
  • Analytical Tools (including necessary hardware and software)

The total budget for this scheme is of €5,000,000.

The deadline of this scheme is on the 31st of December 2023.

Family Business Transfer of Ownership

The main purpose of this incentive is to help, assist, and facilitate family businesses transferring their business from one generation to the next by providing benefits including governance and fiscal benefits for better management and organization within the family and the business.

The eligible costs and expenses under this incentive are about:

  • Transfer duty of immovable property that had been used for a period of at least 3 years.
  • Assessment of duty chargeable when an individual transfers his shares or interest in a partnership, trust, or foundation to family members.

Duty shall be charged on the first €500,000 of the value of the property transferred at the rate of €3.50 per €100.

All undertakings registered as a family business are eligible for this scheme.

Exploring Research Grant Scheme

With this Grant Scheme, Malta Enterprise aims to support firms carrying out feasibility studies to find out technical and commercial challenges and carry out activities in the preliminary stage that will enable businesses to make more competent decisions.

This Grant Scheme will be in the form of a cash grant of up to fifty thousand euros (€50,000) which shall cover a percentage of the eligible costs depending on the size of the undertaking.

The scheme is available until the 31st of December 2023.
